Library Expectations & Procedures

Mrs. Babbie, High School Librarian & Ms. Maltese, Library Aide

The Rules

  • SIGN YOURSELF IN & OUT EVERYTIME

  • Going somewhere? ASK FIRST!

  • ONLY 2 OUT at a time to the bathroom or locker

  • Going to Guidance or a Teacher? We CALL FIRST

  • NO EATING in the Library (RE: the ants)*

  • ONLY 4 to a table - Scientific studies have proven that this is the PERFECT number per table

  • Everyone needs a LIBRARY PASS - yep, everytime.

    • Digital passes turn on at 7:30 in the morning

    • Once they are GONE - they are GONE

    • Yep - we’ll ship you back if you don’t have a pass or if you were too slow and someone got the last pass right before you.

    • Need to work on a project for a teacher? They can write you a pass but just for the project. Be respectful of their trust.

  • Late Arrival/Early Release but need to hang in the library? Don’t assume it’s okay. You must ASK FIRST & there needs to be a reason

  • In Class - Stay in Class. No, your teacher cannot send you to the library out of class just to hang. Not even if “you’re not doing anything” or there’s a sub

  • Use HEADPHONES. We’re old; we don’t like your music (jk - but you still can’t disrupt the others).

  • Keep the volume down - This is a shared space

  • Upper level = STUDY SPACE - Lower level = Social space

The Consequences

Strike 1 - We’re nice. We remind you of the rule and expect you to correct your behavior immediately. You get to stay in the library.

Strike 2 - We’re not so nice. You get told to leave the library immediately and will NOT be issued library passes for the next 1 to 5 school days. We make the time fit the “crime”.

Strike 3 - You’re out, as in out of the library for the next 5+ school days. We reserve the option to boot you out for longer, including the rest of the school year, depending on circumstances.
